Book Review: The Last Witness

Author: G V Subba Rao

This is an edge-of-the-seat thriller that moves at a fast pace.

The plot begins when decorated ISRO scientist Dr, Rangarajan is attacked just before he departs for an all-important meeting in Germany. Once in Germany things don’t pan out they way they should have and he is killed. But the mayhem that follows is unexpected and everything points to a conspiracy. The dead scientist is assumed to be a traitor all set to sell the country’s space secrets to the highest bidder.

HOwever, his guide in Germany, Jasmine is not convinced and believes in the scientist whom she greatly reveres. She has a young daughter, Niniya who has autism and is a high-functioning child with super memory skills. The brilliant but cautious late scientist has left something in Niniya’s I-pad that can be cracked only after a follow-through. Puzzled by it all Jasmine, convinced of the scientist’s innocence and the threat to India that can result in political mayhem, plans a visit to India along with Iniya. She is supposed to meet Sithara, a secret key in the larger frame of things planned by Dr. Rangarajan before he left for Germany.

What follows is a roller coaster ride filled with unexpected dangers and plot twists as the trio tries to clear the scientist’s name and resolve a conspiracy against the country.

The author’s research is commendable. He has kept the pace fast and steady so the reader isn’t swayed … A book full of intrigue from the go!
