in his liar…. in his arms…

Chapter 4

“When I tell you to wait, you wait.

He spoke in a very soft voice. She slowly opened her eyes. Still holding her head he moved back and stared into her eyes, frowning…as if he was studying the turmoil in them.

He palmed her face in his hands. She was locked… in his gaze.

“Why were you crying my little sparrow? I can see from your pretty eyes… what is the matter?” He asked softly.

Namrata was getting emotionally overwhelmed. No one had shown concern for her tears in the last six years. She couldn’t help it and started to sob.

He immediately pulled her and held her close to him. She hugged him back and buried her head into his chest. It was as if a dam had burst, she sobbed her heart out. She didn’t know she had any tears left after her crying bout this morning. He said nothing. He just held her tight and rubbed her back to sooth her. She breathed in his cologne… she simply loved it. It composed her from within. Soon she quietened and moved away from him. “I… I am…sorry… I don’t …” She stuttered rubbing her eyes with the sleeves of her blouse.

“Why were you crying?” he asked her again.

“Nothing… It’s just that… everything happened …” She waved her arms outward.

“And… why did you return the money?” he asked in his trademark soft voice

.

Namrata went rigid immediately. “I-am-not-a-wh…” She couldn’t even say the word as her throat got clogged again. She looked away and continued, “It was my first time yesterday… I don’t … do this…” she looked at him and said, “That’s all. I have to go now.”

“Wait a minute little sparrow…” he said holding up his palm to stop her. “… Who said I paid you for sleeping with you?” He watched her intently as he continued, “I have never done that nor will I do that in future. I wanted to help you that’s all. I thought… you may need the money. I saw you struggle in that event last evening… I just felt responsible…”

“…but you left… Just left… I felt like… a… a…” Namrata interrupted him in a pained voice and looked away.

“Hey…I am sorry if it’s hurt you little sparrow. But duty called and you were sleeping so peacefully I didn’t want to wake you. ” He came close to her and drew a line on the side of her face with his index finger. He continued softly, “I knew it was your first time dear, but you enjoyed it too… didn’t you? Wait… do you regret it by any chance?” he sounded stricken.

Namrata shook her head and closed her eyes. He tilted her chin up with his index finger. Her breathing was getting faster every moment… She felt his lips even before they touched hers. He kissed her slowly and passionately. Last night he had ravaged her lips… today he took his time. He gave light nips on her lips. He used his tongue to coax her to open them. She did immediately and his tongue plunged inside. Their tongues met… she grasped his shirt. The exploring of his tongue continued… within a few seconds she shuddered. He held her till the tremors passed. They both were panting. He rested his forehead on hers. “My little sparrow tastes so sweet…” he said softly and she tightened her grip on his shirt.

They stood there for a moment till she had calmed down completely and her breathing returned to almost normal level. She realised what she was doing and immediately dropped her hands down.

She took in a deep breath and looked up at him. She sighed and said, “I have… to… leave now.”

He pretended not to hear her. He held her face in his palms and said, “Last night was great… it can be magical… don’t you agree?”

“What… what do you mean?” she whispered.

“Let’s do this often… daily. I know you loved it too… So let’s do it again. Let’s savour it…” He insisted giving her that look with his eyes.

She was tentatively lost in their molten depths… She gathered herself and moved away. She said, “I don’t know what impression I must have given you… I… I can’t…”

“… You can’t? Or… you won’t?” He interrupted her.

“I have to… go” She said in an uncertain tone…

Her heart beat was erratic… it never seemed to come on track ever since she first met him. She was bewildered at the turn of events. Till last evening she was a simple city girl with dreams in her eyes for making a career in event planning and looking after her folks. Today she was vacillating between a sense of euphoria and shame. She was in a moral dilemma… and now this proposition…

He was studying her. He took her hands in his and rubbed his thumbs on her fingers in circles. Her breath caught with the overload of emotions.

He said with some kind of conviction in his voice. “I will not force you. But… something… happened in that hotel room last night… I want it again… I want more… to give you more… show you more…” He released her hands and she immediately missed his touch.

She was losing it big time… she thought.

He regarded her expressions and said, “I will message you an address. Be there by 7PM tonight. I will be waiting for you…”

“…I… won’t come.” She said with her throat clogged.

She was struggling to breathe and wanted to get out of there. She turned to leave and tentatively touch the door knob…

But this time he didn’t stop her.

She quickly stepped out of his office… and before the door closed behind her she heard,

“I will be waiting for you, my little sparrow…”
