the visit…

chapter 6

Namrata was full of nerves in anticipation of what was in store tonight. As she cooked the dinner she kept looking at the clock. Her mother and brother, Nirmay were used to her working late so she didn’t have to make up excuses for her coming back home late. But still, today she felt guilty for hiding her rendezvous from them… not that she could ever tell them what she was up to. At 6PM, she rushed to her tiny room, to get ready.

Namrata looked outside at the passing scenes from the Auto, as she hailed home. She was staring into space. She was just not able to figure out that enigma who called himself the Giant Eagle… nor could she figure out herself.

“When I tell you to wait, you wait.

He spoke in a very soft voice. She slowly opened her eyes. Still holding her head he moved back and stared into her eyes, frowning…as if he was studying the turmoil in them.

The address on the crumpled paper had mentioned RM tech park.

Namrata reached the lobby of the 11 storeyed glass building. She had worn a faded blue jeans pant and a pink cotton blouse. Her sneakers made it easy to walk fast on the granite embedded lobby floor. As she approached the reception, she stopped.

The next day

Namrata looked around the room. The suite was…. Simply Majestic. She had only read about them or seen pictures online while researching for her manager. Her bed was huge and soft so were the countless pillows surrounding her. She looked at the other side of the bed. It was empty. She picked up a pillow and took a deep breath… hmmm it was the same cologne. Her insides clenched as she remembered her tryst last night…

Prologue

Namrata woke up to the scent of the cologne… her favourite one. Her eyes still shut she took a deep breath. The room was cool. She felt the chill though she was under the comforter. Her head was on the softest pillow she had ever felt in her life. No doubt she had slept soundly…like a log. There was no alarm to wake her today…

WAIT…
ALARM…
She sat up with a start. She realised she didnt have her clothes on. She pulled the comforter to her chest and held it tight. She looked around the beautiful hotel suite and the events of last evening swam before her eyes.

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” ..

It’s been a childhood passion for writing fiction. The tough perils of life left little time to pursue the same. But then you come to a phase of life where you decide…. THIS IS IT.
My Eureka moment happened early this year. I got on the writing bandwagon and having finished my first novel… am on with my second. It’s been amazingly cathartic to pool out your fantasies in print.
Will be sharing excerpts from my novels here. But this page is more about stories mostly short ones, I want to share with interested readers.
Feel free to comment. I eagerly await your feedback.
Thank you for reading and hope you enjoy reading them as I enjoyed writing
