Book review: An Unusual Honeymoon

Author: Mamta Kashyap

An unusual honeymoon takes you straight into a fantasy world of Bollywood romcoms minus the crap dolled out these days. This is a simple yet an emotional roller coaster of a love story.

The story belongs to the female protagonist Mahaswetha (and I love the name, unlike the lady herself) through and through. Betrayed by her fiancée a couple of days before the big fat wedding, she goes for her honeymoon, determined to salvage her career. For those who feel its in line with the Kangana Ranaut movie ‘Queen’, well, the similarity ends right here. She meets an enigma of a handsome hunk at the destination and what happens later changes her life for good.

Personally I love the authors portrayal of the female character who is body shamed often but at the end of the ordeal she loves herself above everything and that I believe is important. It teaches us to accept ourselves, flaws and all and that love is not just skin deep. Overall well written and leaves the reader smiling even after the book has ended.

Recommended read. Available in both Kindle and paperback formats
