Book Review: Possessed

Author: Avishek Kumar Singh

This is my relatively new foray into a genre I rarely read, ‘HORROR’.

This book has a few short stories, and each takes you to a different world of mystery, enigma, and eerieness. The darkness is brought out aptly and I was sure not to read this late into the night!!!

‘Possessed’ is the title of a three-part story in the same book. The protagonist is faced with the disappearance of his grandfather whom he knew as his savior. A chance letter drives him to the forsaken depths of darkness where evil awaits to claim him. The secrets of his past are unraveled, and he realizes he is the one to end the cycle of gloom and death caused by the evil spirit.

The other stories are different from each other and bring in the proper intrigue, and you are left to want more.

As a reader, the only point that struck sore was the excessive use of colloquial language. If that’s taken care of, this book can become a masterpiece. I look forward to a full-length read by the author.
